With white walls and hits of silver throughout, there is a crispness that complements the patina of the iron-filled abode. |

Our goal was to highlight the elegant classical architecture of the space while creating an homage to the natural world and the transformative power of spaces designed for gathering. The result is “Atrium Tisane,” a conservatory meets tea salon filled with artisan-made organic furnishings and accessories, original art, and verdant florals. |

We collaborated with artist-driven wallpaper company Calico Wallpaper to clad the rotunda’s walls in their Eden mural. Featuring painterly botanical elements, the wallcovering serves as a backdrop for cozy seating arrangements featuring custom tea tables with raw wood tops and plaster bases fabricated by Casci Ornamental Plaster, a Dallas-based plaster design house founded in 1930. |

We also commissioned Casci to create the towering brass and glass vitrine in the center of the room that houses a floral installation created by SWOON. The collaboration with the storied plaster artist was made even more special by the fact that they created some of the original plaster elements in the room. |

Rounding out the room’s ode to nature is a series of still-life photographs featuring arrangements created by SWOON and shot by our in-house photo studio PS.SWOON. The photos were framed in custom rounded frames crafted by a Missouri-based master woodworker. |

The detail-rich natural material is timeless and honest, adding instant soulfulness and warmth to a room. Lately we’ve been drawn to mixing tones and species in a single area. The diminutive kitchen in this guesthouse project features custom cabinetry in walnut and golden oak with integrated wood pulls. Oak flush-mount lighting creates a warm contrast to the honed black marble countertops and ceiling-height backsplash, while a bleached oak ceiling adds lightness. The mix was inspired by the house’s exterior, a mix of dramatic shou sugi ban (the traditional Japanese art of charred cedar) and traditional stained cedar. Small and impactful, the wooded retreat is among the studio’s favorite projects. |

Each lamp in the Formation series begins with a thoughtfully selected unearthed rock. |

The heft of the raw, organic stone base is then complemented by a lovely, whimsical custom shade made of leather or a soft fabric. But it’s the details you don’t immediately see that bring it all together. Each piece of hardware is carefully considered to add to the elegance and function of the illuminated work of art. The clicking on and off of a hefty brass dimmer switch (always a dimmer) and a delicate braided electrical cord are what make each Formation lamp complete and utterly special. |
